Daisuke Suzuki, Associate Professor of the Research Initiative for Supra-Materials (Deputy) and Applied Molecular Chemistry Course, Department of Chemistry and Materials (co-Deputy), received the Young Scientists’ Prize from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology on April 17, 2019. The commendation is “for those who achieved remarkable results in research and development in the area of science and technology”.

Industries are looking at hydrogel microspheres for their promising properties. Dr. Suzuki has designed and synthesized such microgels with a variety of potential applications. He has discovered a new particle dispersion system in which gel particles autonomously set their rhythm, and separate and collect like protein groups in the body, elucidating their mechanism. These research results will be scrutinized further for employment in disciplines such as the biomedical field.
