Profile of Departments

Department of Life Innovation

As the social environment and population structure change dramatically, we are developing infrastructure technology and its social implementation to establish strategies for individual life design towards the ideal way for people to contribute to society. We also aim to elucidate the fundamental principles in the formation of life and disease, especially of human transformation with aging.

  • 1. Cultured vascular endothelial cells forming a mesh structure
  • 2. Abnormal findings in an adrenomedullin knockout mouse

Research Field
Vascular medicine, Aging science
Research Theme
Our goal is to elucidate the mechanisms of vascular dysregulation and why the disruption occurs during aging, by investigating the biology of vascular endothelial cells. We hope that our findings would open a new avenue for understanding aging-related diseases since the vascular malfunction is closely related to malfunctioning of organs.
Message
Most lifestyle-related diseases are diseases for which prevention is important, and they are actually preventable. It is our pleasure if our study would contribute to medical diagnosis and therapeutics of lifestyle-related diseases, preventing aging of vasculature, hence realizing healthy longevity.
